The material was ready, but the pavement temperature and moisture were not ideal in the morning. The crew waited until the surface dried properly and the temperature improved before applying the lines. The job took longer than planned, but the finish was better. In the South Island, the application window can be more important than people expect.

We tested a sample before discussing a larger order. That process felt more professional and avoided confusion later.

This was a council road repainting job, not fresh asphalt. The old white line had faded into the surface, and some areas were polished by traffic. We cleaned the pavement first and used primer before applying Tianhua Traffic thermoplastic paint. The new line edge looked much cleaner after cooling. On older local roads, I would not treat primer as an optional step.

Our first pricing sheet used the usual safer number for a 20ft container because we did not want to overstate freight savings. Tianhua did not simply accept that figure. Their team checked the bag stacking method, pallet requirements, container payload, and the forwarder’s comments with us. After the loading plan was adjusted, the shipment reached 27 tons. For a distributor, that changed the freight-per-ton figure and gave us more room when quoting line marking contractors.

We first looked at Auckland because it sounded obvious, but after checking our warehouse location and contractor coverage, Tauranga was more practical for this order. The paint price was only one part of the decision. Port handling, domestic delivery, unloading, and later dispatch to Waikato and Bay of Plenty contractors all changed the real cost.

For a retail car park, the owner wanted clean white bays, yellow arrows, and good first-night reflection under site lighting. We did not specify a high premixed glass bead formula. A 0% internal bead option with drop-on beads during application was enough for the early result. I would not choose the same bead plan for a state highway, but for this car park it made sense.

The yellow paint was used for truck guidance lines and warning areas near a freight yard. Turning vehicles can wear markings faster than ordinary straight lane lines. We paid attention to line thickness, bead spreading, and heating control. The finished markings looked stronger than cold-applied paint we had used for lighter-duty areas.

I am looking for cooperation with road marking contractors working on council roads, cycle lanes, bus lanes, school crossings, port yards, car parks, and old-line repainting projects in New Zealand or nearby markets. My work is mainly practical site work: push machine operation, hand marking around arrows and crossings, equipment setup, calibration, basic machine checks, and watching line width and bead spread while the thermoplastic is still hot. I am especially interested in crews that care about pavement dryness, primer on old surfaces, clean line edges, and safe reopening after marking.
