This order was not for a low-budget parking job. The project owner asked for AASHTO M249-type thermoplastic paint because they cared about line visibility after traffic wear, not only the first inspection. The higher glass bead content made sense for this road section, especially where night driving safety was part of the acceptance requirement.

The paint itself performed well, but one old asphalt section reminded us that surface condition matters. The contractor cleaned the road and applied primer before marking. After that, the thermoplastic line bonded much better. On aged or polished pavement, even good AASHTO M249 paint should not be applied carelessly.

We did not confirm the bulk order immediately. First, we checked the sample for melting behavior, line color, and surface finish. The Tianhua Traffic material flowed steadily in the kettle, and the white line looked clean after cooling. For a standard-based product, sample testing is much more useful than only reading the price per ton.

Some buyers compare this product with economical 0% glass bead paint, but they are not for the same job. For short-term markings, drop-on beads may be enough. For this public road project, we needed stronger long-term retroreflectivity, so the AASHTO M249 formula with internal glass beads was a better match.

The same batch was used for lane dividers, stop lines, arrows, and pedestrian crossings. The material stayed workable during application, and the finished lines were not rough when the heating temperature was controlled properly. It saved time because the crew did not need to adjust too much between different marking types.

During the first small test, the operator overheated the paint slightly, and the line surface was not as smooth as expected. After adjusting the kettle temperature, the material became easier to apply and the edge quality improved. The product is stable, but construction control is still important.
