For a parking area project, we did not need high long-term retroreflectivity. The client mainly checked the early reflective result, so we used a 0% internal glass bead formula and applied drop-on glass beads during construction. It helped reduce cost while still giving acceptable initial brightness.

For old asphalt road repainting, we did not apply the thermoplastic material directly. A primer layer was brushed first to improve bonding between the aged pavement and the new marking. This made a clear difference, especially on sections where the old road surface was dusty or polished by traffic.

The drying time was short enough for traffic reopening, but surface cleaning and correct thickness were still important for the final result.

The trial batch and the later bulk shipment behaved almost the same during melting. That matters a lot on large road jobs, because contractors do not want one batch to flow well and the next batch to become too thick. The line finish was stable, and the white color stayed clean after application.

The paint performed well, but the jobsite team still had to control heating temperature carefully. When the material was overheated, the surface finish was not as clean. Under stable heating, the coating formed a smooth line without obvious bubbles or rough edges.

The product is not something I would choose only by price. For JT/T 280-type projects, we need to check softening point, flow time, whiteness, bead design, and abrasion resistance together. Tianhua’s technical support helped us compare the standard formula with a more economical formula before ordering.

For this road section, the owner cared about nighttime visibility after several months, not only the first inspection result. We chose a formula with premixed glass beads because drop-on beads mainly support initial reflectivity. Internal beads are more useful when the surface wears and new beads are gradually exposed.

For local resale, the adjustable glass bead content is useful. Some customers ask for 20% or higher premixed beads for long-term road visibility, while others only need drop-on beads for short-term reflectivity. Having different formula options makes it easier to match the customer’s actual project requirement.
