Some customers want only the lowest price, but road project buyers ask about AASHTO M249, drying time, bond strength, reflectivity, and repeat-order consistency. The paint was good, but one jobsite reminded us that standard material cannot replace surface preparation. The road was old, with faded markings and polished asphalt. The contractor cleaned the surface and brushed primer before applying the new thermoplastic line. After that, adhesion was much better. Without primer, I do not think the line edge would have stayed as stable.

The project owner asked for AASHTO M249-type thermoplastic paint, so the discussion was different from normal low-cost road paint. We checked bead content, binder level, drying behavior, and white/yellow color performance before confirming the order. We did a small melt test before talking about a container order. The white material did not char easily when the kettle temperature was controlled, and the line cooled with a clean surface. For AASHTO M249 paint, I think sample testing is necessary because the buyer needs to see flow, bead distribution, and line finish, not just read “standard grade” on paper.

For this road section, the owner was not only checking the first night’s reflection. They wanted the marking to remain visible after traffic wear. That is why the higher glass bead content in an AASHTO M249-type formula made sense. Drop-on beads gave the initial retroreflectivity, but internal beads were important for longer service performance.

I am looking for cooperation with contractors handling AASHTO-type thermoplastic marking projects. My strength is practical site work: setting up the preheater and push machine, adjusting line width, doing hand work around arrows and stop lines, checking bead spreading, and helping avoid problems caused by dirty pavement or wrong heating. I prefer projects where line quality, adhesion, and reflective performance are checked seriously, not only fast temporary marking jobs.

Our first quotation to local contractors was based on a conservative 20ft container loading plan. After Tianhua checked the bag arrangement and discussed the loading details with the forwarder, the shipment plan was adjusted and more material could fit safely in the same container. The final loading reached 27 tons instead of the lower planning figure. For a standard-grade product with higher material cost, that freight-per-ton difference made our resale price easier to control.

The first trial line was not perfect because the operator pushed the temperature too aggressively. The material was still usable, but the surface finish looked rougher than expected. After reducing overheating and keeping the kettle more stable, the same paint gave a smoother line. Good material still needs a careful operator.
